Samsung Pay users can now upload their Discover credit cards to the digital payments platform.
The support arrives after a long delay. Officially, Discover was enthusiastic about Samsung Pay from the beginning, announcing at its launch in 2015 that its cardholders would be able to use the service in early 2016. No reason has been given for the delay.
Nevertheless, the support could offer a modest boost to Samsung Pay usage, particularly in the US, where Discover counts roughly 44 million cardholders. The development comes soon after a couple of new payments services partnership helped to extend Samsung Pay’s reach in Australia and the UK.
Samsung Pay is thought by some analysts to be the second most popular mobile payment platform, after Apple Pay.
