Yubico has officially launched the YubiKey 4C, its first USB-C second factor authentication device – and the first in the world, for that matter.
The USB-C key was first announced at the start of the year, and was officially launched at this week’s RSA 2017 security conference. It’s an important step, with an increasing number of OEMs seeking to support the USB-C standard in their devices in order to take advantage of its faster transmission speeds and smaller form factor.
At the same time, interest in 2FA devices like Yubico’s YubiKeys is also on the rise, with major global platforms like Google and Facebook offering their support, as interest in 2FA security increases: This week, the FIDO Alliance announced a new FIDO Certified Showcase directory for organizations supporting is U2F standard, among whom Yubico is a prominent advocate.
The YubiKey 4C is now available through Yubico’s online store for $50.
