“The FPC1511 was pitched as FPC’s most cost-effective fingerprint sensor when it was first unveiled in June of 2018…”
Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has placed its FPC1511 fingerprint sensor in a trio of new smartphones from Huawei and Honor. The sensor is now providing secure biometric authentication for the Huawei P20 Lite and Huawei Y9 Prime, in addition to the the Honor 20 Lite.
The FPC1511 was pitched as FPC’s most cost-effective fingerprint sensor when it was first unveiled in June of 2018. The sensor has since been placed in a wide variety of smartphones from a number of different providers, including previous models from Honor and Huawei alike.
The latest integrations would seem to suggest that both companies have been happy with the results. They also indicate that the FPC1511 is everything FPC hoped it would be, insofar as it continues to be an appealing, low-cost solution for many smartphone manufacturers.
Of course, FPC’s full portfolio includes far more options than the FPC1511, which is why the company continues to be one of the world’s leading providers of fingerprint recognition technology for mobile devices. The company has now shipped more than 1 billion biometric sensors, and has recently been expanding beyond smartphones with a slew of biometric smart card trials.
