IDEMIA will be helping Handelsbanken come up with a signature look for its customer cards. Handelsbanken is one of the top banks in Sweden, and will specifically be handing off all of its card personalization operations to IDEMIA through an outsourcing arrangement.
The partnership covers card customer services in addition to the design of the cards themselves. That means that Handelsbanken customers will be able to utilize upcoming features like mobile card activation and authentication. Both take advantage of IDEMIA’s mobile onboarding technology, with the latter allowing users to tap a card to their phone to authenticate themselves once their identity has been verified.
In the meantime, IDEMIA will begin taking steps to update Handelsbanken’s current bank card offerings. To that end, the company plans to use Lazer-Pro techniques to bring the bank’s embossed cards into the modern era with designs that fit the Handelsbanken image.
“We are pleased that IDEMIA has demonstrated that they can meet our high demands on quality and future proof services and we are looking forward to our cooperation,” said Handelsbanken Head of Payments Kajsa Bohr.
“We’re thrilled Handelsbanken have selected us to take care of their card personalization,” added IDEMIA Financial Institutions Service Line VP Alex Nolan. “We will bring our in-depth know-how in card manufacturing and personalization as well as our digital services offering.”
IDEMIA did not offer any additional details about what kinds of card it will be delivering to Handelsbanken, though the company is known for its extensive card portfolio. Most notably, IDEMIA has introduced an eco-friendly GREENPAY card made of recycled PVC plastics, and is trialing biometric payment cards featuring IDEX’s TrustedBio fingerprint sensor. The company also produces a metal card for high-end clients, and has launched a Global Fintech Accelerator Card Program to support FinTech organizations looking to adopt the latest card technologies.
