“The support arrives at a time of growing enthusiasm for two-factor authentication, with major brands like Facebook and Google having recently enabled 2FA, and regulators getting behind 2FA security as well.”
Keeper Security has incorporated FIDO U2F support into its eponymous password manager app.
That means Keeper users can now take advantage of two-factor authentication using Yubico’s security key devices. All they need to do is plug a YubiKey into the USB port of their laptop or computer – or keep an NFC YubiKey nearby – and tap it when logging in.
In a statement announcing the U2F support, Keeper Security CEO Darren Guccione proclaimed that “the integration of FIDO U2F and YubiKey will drastically reduce the impact of a stolen or leaked password.”
The support arrives at a time of growing enthusiasm for two-factor authentication, with major brands like Facebook and Google having recently enabled 2FA, and regulators getting behind 2FA security as well. For its part, Keeper’s embrace of 2FA is another sign of its interest in sophisticated digital security mechanisms after it enabled support for MacBook Pro fingerprint recognition earlier this year.
Keeper is demoing the FIDO U2F support at this week’s Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit in National Harbor, MD.
