“Cerence will build on Nuance’s robust foundation of voice- and Artificial Intelligence-based technology solutions for vehicles, capitalizing on growing market excitement around smart and connected car technologies.”
Nuance Communications has officially filed its Form 10 Registration Statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for the spinoff of its automotive division, marking the latest important step toward the creation of Cerence Inc.
The announcement comes after several important developments concerning the automotive technology spinoff over the past few months. In June, Nuance revealed that it had appointed former Harman Industries CTO Sanjay Dhawan as the future CEO of the then-unnamed spinoff; and just a couple of weeks ago, Nuance unveiled the official name and logo of Cerence, as well as the members of its Board of Directors.
Cerence will build on Nuance’s robust foundation of voice- and Artificial Intelligence-based technology solutions for vehicles, capitalizing on growing market excitement around smart and connected car technologies.
In announcing the Form 10 filing with the SEC, Nuance Communications CEO Mark Benjamin emphasized the already strong performance of Nuance’s automotive division, suggesting that the road ahead is wide open for Cerence to achieve success. “Coming off a strong fiscal Q3 and year-to-date performance, the Automotive business is firing on all cylinders,” he said. “The team has an outstanding track record of innovation and operational excellence and I’m confident this will continue after the spin-off.”
