Toshiba has upgraded the software powering its dynaEdge AR Smart Glasses for enterprise and industrial use, delivering voice command functionality to the devices.
In a statement announcing the upgrade, Toshiba America Client Solutions marketing and engineering VP Carl Pinto called the addition of voice interaction “a game changer” that “allows a professional equipped with our AR solution to maintain their focus on a specific task and improve business outcomes.”
This actually isn’t the first time that voice command functionality has come to Toshiba’s smartglasses solution. This summer, a partnership with Augmented Reality specialist Atheer made the dynaEdge AR Smart Glasses compatible with that company’s AiR Enterprise software, which itself featured a voice command feature. But that was third party software, available separately, whereas this latest update directly concerns Toshiba’s Vision DE Suite 2.0 platform, with existing Vision DE Suite customers receiving it as a free upgrade.
Other new features of the improved Vision DE Suite 2.0 platform include a call log for video chats and a customizable home screen, while existing features include photo capture, a PDF viewer, alert notifications, and other user control options including a touchpad and programmable buttons. There is also a Toshiba Mobile Management console designed to help administrators to manage multiple devices and users.
