Last week at Mobile ID World Internet of Things security was in the headlines along with the latest on the spread of biometric mobile wallets around the globe. Two-factor authentication was a topic of interest too, while we examined the latest mobile devices to sport fingerprint and iris biometric scanners.
Here’s a look at last week’s top stories in mobile identity management:
Voice Biometrics, Iris Biometrics
Last week we saw Amazon’s efforts in opening up its Alexa AI platform pay off with the announcement that the voice-based assistant now has over one thousand ‘skills.’ Iris biometrics made the news too as we took a look at the latest entry in Fujitsu’s Arrows line of mobile devices: the Arrows Tab F-04H tablet witch features iris scanning courtesy of Delta ID.

The Cupertino company’s Apple Pay mobile wallet, which recently launched in Singapore, sparked conversations in the country revolving around the initiative to promote cashless payments. Stay posted to Mobile ID World today as we report on the identity-centric news coming out of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Mobile Wallets
Lux Research issued a new report last week stating that, if mobile payments providers aim to stay competitive, they will need to embrace multimodal biometrics. Much in line with the firm’s declaration, last week the non-biometric mobile payment solution CurrentC announced it will be exiting its beta test this month at which point associated accounts will be disabled.
On the other hand, Samsung Pay, which leveraged fingerprint biometrics for convenient transaction authentication scored MasterCard support through US Bank. Samsung’s mobile wallet is slated to launch in Australia later this week.
