Smartphone Biometrics
Fingerprint Cards (FPC) announced that its fingerprint biometrics tech has been included on three recently launched smartphones—two from Huawei and another from 360. We also received confirmations on some of the rumors swirling around the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note7 which is said (but still not yet confirmed) to feature iris scanning capabilities.

Samsung Pay is coming to Brazil tomorrow, continuing its spread around the world. Last week we reported on the end to that mobile wallet’s rivalry with Shinsegae in Korea, while learning that its users are more happy, if fewer in number, than those of Apple Pay. Mastercard announced an expansion to its Masterpass solution, and a new case study from Ericsson gave us a look at the growth of mobile money in Uganda.

The FIDO Alliance teamed up with EMVCo last week with an aim to bring strong authentication to chip cards. Meanwhile, Alliance member Daon announced that it is offering a free FIDO Quick Start trial. Daon’s solutions power the biometric authentication capabilities of the USAA banking app, which just last week added new accessibility options for visually impaired users.
