Big news hit last Tuesday when Nymi announced its Nymi Band successfully made the world’s first heartbeat authenticated wearable payment. Meanwhile, Australia’s SunCorp Bank announced its customers can use Touch ID to authenticate on its mobile app, PayPal launched its PayPal Here card reader, and Rite Aid threw its support behind a whole slew of mCommerce payment options. Additionally, NEXT Biometrics and iWallet entered into a strategic alliance that could potentially transform the latter’s products.

Last week the FIDO Alliance announced that 62 products have been certified under its standard – a number that includes four solutions from Synaptics that use its Natural ID biometric offering. HYPR, an Alliance member, came forward with a solution for biometric data hacks and we reported on some unfortunate news regarding how the HTC One Max has been storing user fingerprints.

In mobile device news last week we saw the announcement of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge+, we learned about the launch date for the next wave of Apple products, and we heard rumors concerning the biometric capabilities of the upcoming Nexus smartphones. Fingerprint Cards announced that its sensor made it on to the new ZUK Z1 phone last week, and Precise Biometrics was in the news too: integrated into the same phone as FPC and also receiving a follow-up order of Tactivo readers from the US Department of Defense.
